Limitations:

From the beginning of time man has been seeking to go beyond the limits of all barriers, whether they be physical or spiritual. It is only a selected few though, that have achieved these outer limits. But why some and not all. If one man can do it, then I guess it is possible for another also. What makes a great man great and an ordinary man ordinary? Let us try to answer these questions as we travel

The road to success:

(1) To be successful we must first set goals for ourselves. In other words, we know what we want to be successful at. Do we want to the greatest football player that ever lived, the world’s fastest man, maybe a Nobel laureate or just a simple family. Maybe some of us would like to be a combination of these things, but in the long run it will be the goals that we set for ourselves which will determine the direction that we take. It is therefore very important that a man have a clear concept of what he wants to be and what he wants to achieve from it. “THAT IS, HE MUST HAVE A VISION FOR HIMSELF”

(2) There factors, which will influence what, a man envisages for himself though. Life is not an easy road and there are many obstacles that hinder us achieving our goals and sometimes even limit the vision we have of ourselves. Yes limitations, they can either make you or break you. People often look at limitations as a hindrance and it this outlook that usually breaks a man. We must learn to embrace our limitations, challenge them, overcome those we can and accept those we cannot. Physical limitations can be worked upon. A weak man can become strong through exercise, a blind man can learn to see with his ears and a broken right hand will force you to use your left instead. Limitations must be accepted if they cannot be removed and one must learn to function with their limits in mind. There are however limitations which we bring upon ourselves because of spiritual weakness. However when one is physically able what is it that hinders him from doing. A friend of mine once said,” I know I can, but I don’t believe I can”. I argued with him some more to go ahead and jump but he couldn’t. That day we went to the cliffs by the bay to dive. I just couldn’t understand. He was a good swimmer, I myself had taught him. Then what was the problem? He finally made me understand with these words as he said, “it is not what I can do but it is what I think I can do. And then I realized, yes sometimes our physical limitations hinder us and we must accept them, but given the ability, it is the mental and spiritual strength and confidence within that will determine whether we do or we don’t. That day my friend left without jumping. He was physically able but spiritually weak and in the end it was that which decided his fate. He lost a battle against himself and it is this lost battle in most cases that determines how successful a man will be. The desire that we have to overcome ourselves when necessary will determine whether we achieve our goals. Some people call it ambition; others term it as the “degree of self motivation”. I call it the “Spiritual will” a belief in ones-self and the creator when he says, "anything is possible in him". I guess this implies that no matter how physically hindered we are we can do anything. Well so be it, for by my will and his will, I can do anything. Do YOU BELIVE YOU CAN?
